What we store
- Your email address and the display name you chose when signing up.
- Your password, stored only as a cryptographic hash. We never see it.
- Which stores you selected to search.
- Your searches: the words you typed, the stores and country searched, and the date. The results themselves are not kept — opening a past search runs it again, so prices are always current.
That is everything. We do not ask for your address, your phone number or any payment details, because nothing is bought on PriceHound.
Every search - with or without an account - is also kept anonymously so we can see what people look for and improve PriceHound: only the words typed, the country, the stores, whether a photo was used, and the date. It is not linked to you, your account or your internet address. You can also search without an account. To keep free searching fair, searches from each internet address are counted for the day in the server's memory only; the address itself is not stored.
Why we store it
To sign you in, to remember the stores you picked so you do not choose them every time, and to keep your own search history available to you.
Who else sees it
Running PriceHound depends on a few services:
- Supabase — stores the accounts and the data listed above.
- Vercel — hosts the site and keeps ordinary server logs.
- Google (Gemini) — receives the words you searched and the titles, prices, ratings and product pictures of the candidate listings, so it can pick which ones match. If you add a photo to a search, Google and eBay (which searches by image) receive that photo too. It is used for that search only and PriceHound never stores it. It does not receive your email, your name or your account.
- eBay — receives the words you searched and the country you shop from, so it can return listings that deliver to you. It does not receive your email, your name or your account, and PriceHound does not store the eBay listings it shows you.
- AliExpress — receives the words you searched and the country you shop from, so it can return products that ship to you. It does not receive your email, your name or your account.
- Etsy — receives the words you searched and the country you shop from, so it can return listings that ship to you. It does not receive your email, your name or your account, and PriceHound does not store the Etsy listings it shows you.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
When you open a result
Opening a result takes you to that marketplace, where their own privacy policy applies. Some links are affiliate links, so the marketplace may record that the visit came from PriceHound in order to credit a commission. We do not pass them anything about you.
Cookies
PriceHound uses only what is needed to keep you signed in, plus the shopping country you pick, which stays in your own browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your control
Write to us and we will send you a copy of your data or delete your account and everything attached to it. Deleting the account removes your profile and your search history.
